Heather D. Swain
Heather D. Swain is a classically trained actor, writer, director, creator, and one of Alberta's most recognizable working artists. A graduate of York University's Conservatory Acting Program, Heather arrived in Edmonton in 1992 to perform in a Fringe Festival production and promptly did what any sensible artist would do—she stayed.
For more than three decades, Heather has built an extraordinary career by saying "yes" to artistic adventure. Her work has spanned theatre, musical theatre, comedy, writing, directing, devised creation, and the unique world of street performance.
In 1994, an invitation from the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival launched a new chapter in her artistic life, one that would see her create nine original roving characters and perform for audiences across Canada and around the world.
