The Playwright
Heather has built a body of work driven largely by commissions and collaborations, creating plays, scripts, and devised works for companies that trusted her distinctive voice and theatrical instincts.
Her early writing and performance work in Toronto with Nightwood Theatre, Theatre Direct Canada, and Company of Sirens culminated in a 1985 Dora Award for Love and Work Enough (published by Playwrights Canada in 1992). In Alberta, her writing continued to garner critical recognition with Breasting the Waves, earning an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award nomination for Outstanding New Play in 2000, while Pink Card Club received an AMPIA Award nomination for Best Drama in 2003 following its adaptation for screen.

Heather's solo work has been featured by Loud & Queer Cabaret and Workshop West Theatre's inaugural Writing Circle, where her voice continues to evolve with equal measures of wit, compassion, and hard-earned honesty.
Thanks to the encouragement of fellow writers Sandy and Sue, Heather has happily found her way back to the page, proving that some stories simply refuse to stay unwritten.
